Masterwork Announces 2021-2022 Community Arts Award Winners

September 2021

The Masterwork Music and Art Foundation are pleased to announce the winners of our Community Grant award offering for the 2021-2022 cycle.

This year we received more applications than ever before including proposals for a number of inventive community arts initiatives. With that we’d like to thank all of those who applied.

Our Programming Committee, made up of Masterwork Board members Joseph White, Eileen White, Tim Watkins, Wayne Walters, Joen Ferrari and Tony Javed, reviewed each submission recommending the top applicants to the Board. The Masterwork Board determined the following winners:

Dance on the Lawn (see: www.danceonthelawn.org ) has been awarded our $1,000 grant — Montclair New Jersey’s dance festival is a free dance event that brings diverse professional and emerging companies from New Jersey and New York together with students of dance from across New Jersey in a community setting that is open to the public. Dance on the lawn celebrates dance in New Jersey and aims to promote, support and develop the cultural landscape throughout the state.

Sparklevision has been awarded a $500 grant — Sparklevision is an app that’s being developed by Ridgefield, Connecticut’s Prospector Theater (see: https://www.prospectortheater.org ). Dedicated to authentically representing people with disabilities in the arts and entertainment industries, the Prospector Theater believes that everyone deserves a spot both in front of and behind the camera. SparkleVision will have a variety of genres of programs highlighting the talents, skills, and abilities of Prospects.

Current Showcase (see: https://www.facebook.com/currentshowcase/ ) has been awarded a $500 grant — Current Showcase is an interdisciplinary performance art showcase supporting the work of emerging artists in the fields of dance, music, and theater, made accessible to the public.  They have been awarded funds for Current (Take.7), an outdoor interdisciplinary festival planned for the Spring of 2022.

Please join us in congratulating the awardees. Like, follow and subscribe to their efforts to stay apprised of their community arts commitment.

Masterwork Music & Art Foundation was founded more than 60 years ago in Morristown, New Jersey. The Founders, Shirley May and David Randolph, were passionate about the arts and understood the importance of nurturing developing artists, and making the arts available to a broad audience. Generations of artists were influenced by the years of concerts, theatrical events and fine arts projects Masterwork Arts funded and produced.

Today, Masterwork Arts supports excellence in the arts through a variety of grant offerings and awards, a zoom series on 'A Life in the Arts' and virtual classes that are open to all. To find out more, sign up for our enewsletter on www.masterworkarts.org
